Our story

It all started with a tablet held out at the table

At the start there was no brand. Just a family dinner, a two-year-old who couldn't sit still, and a tablet propped up in front of him because the plate had to be finished. Calm came back in thirty seconds. The guilt arrived right after.

This isn't a story about bad parents. It's a story about bad choices being the only ones on offer.

The problem isn't the screen, it's that there's nothing else

We looked at what was in the toy box. Objects that do one thing. You press, it sings. You pull, it rolls. The child understands the mechanism in two minutes, and turns away. That's why a box full of toys never buys more than ten minutes of calm.

A screen never runs out. That's exactly what makes it so convenient — and so hard to replace.

What a toy that really lasts does

It doesn't do one thing. It does twenty. It doesn't give the answer: it lets the child try, get it wrong, try again. And above all, it offers real movements — opening a lock, fastening a belt, turning a key — not toy movements.

That's what Maria Montessori understood more than a century ago: a child doesn't want to be distracted, he wants to do what grown-ups do. Give him the same mechanisms at his size and he'll come back to them every day.

What we believe in

  • It's still useful in three years' time. Velcro at one, laces at four. The same object, but never the same game. What's written here can be seen on the object.
  • No batteries and no screen, with one exception. Calm doesn't come from a toy that talks: none of our toys makes music or a voice. The light-up sensory board is our only product with batteries, supplied.
  • Toys that travel. Car, plane, restaurant, waiting room: that's where you need them most, and that's where the toy box doesn't come along.
  • No therapeutic promises. A toy doesn't treat anything and doesn't replace a health professional. It keeps busy, it teaches movements, it gets you through a trip. That's already a lot.

Miloubo today

Miloubo is a brand of Montessori-inspired early learning toys, in felt and wood, designed for children from 6 months to 5 years — and above all for the moments when their parents have run out of solutions: the trip, the meal at a restaurant, the waiting room, the end of the day.

Customer support in English, and after-sales service, are handled directly by our team. Our felt busy books are made in a specialist workshop and tested to the European EN 71 standards.
