Our story

It started with a tablet handed over at the dinner table

A family dinner, a two-year-old who couldn't sit still, and a tablet propped up in front of him because he really had to finish his plate. Calm came back in thirty seconds. The guilt came right after.

This isn't a story about bad parents, it's a story about bad options. Ever since, we've been after one thing: something that holds a child's attention longer than a screen.

Toys kids ask for, and parents feel good about.

Give a busy book

Hands first

Kids don't learn because we explain it to them. They learn because they try, get it wrong, and try again.

No screen, no noise

Calm doesn't come from a toy that talks. No electronic sounds. No batteries, with one exception: the light-up sensory board.

Made for the road

Car, restaurant, waiting room. That's where a parent needs it most.

Still in use three years from now

Velcro at one, laces at four. The same book, but never the same game.

Questions we get asked

What exactly is a busy book?

A felt activity book. Every page has real fasteners: zipper, buttons, laces, clip buckles, snaps, Velcro, shapes to place. Your child practices the motions they watch you do, only bigger and with no risk of breaking anything.

There's no right answer to find and nothing beeps: they try, miss, and try again.

What age is it for?

From 6 months, with supervision, for the textures and the Velcro. The real dressing motions come more around 18 months, and the busy book is still going strong at 5 with the clock and the challenge cards.

How much is shipping, and how long does it take?

Shipping is free on every order, with no minimum. Allow 6 to 10 days, handling included, with a tracking number emailed to you as soon as it ships.

I want to give it as a gift. Can I order it directly?

Yes. The busy book arrives in plain packaging that's ready to give as is. The Discovery Set is the one people give most: all 8 pages, 30+ activities and the free travel strap, in a single box.

What is it made of?

High-density polyester felt, all textile. The pages are stitched down; the pieces to play with — shapes, animals, numbers, letters — come off and go back on, which is the whole point of the game. No electronic parts, no batteries, no screen.

It carries the CE mark and meets the EN 71 standard, parts 1, 2 and 3. Small parts: adult supervision under age 3.

What if my child doesn't take to it?

You have 30 days to decide: the 14-day legal withdrawal period, which we extend to 30 days. Return shipping is on us and we send you a prepaid label. Refund within 14 days of receipt.

Who is behind Miloubo?

A small brand born from a parent's problem: finding something other than a screen to keep a two-year-old busy on a car ride. We only push one product, and we choose it ourselves. Our story.

At nine months, he pulls the Velcro and that's plenty. He obviously can't do the harder activities. He touches the textures, pulls the Velcro, turns the pages. It keeps him busy while I make dinner, and that's already huge.

He presses, it lights up, he shrieks with laughter. The second he figured out that pressing makes the light come on, he never let go. He does it a hundred times. The first toy that really holds his attention without a screen.

He had tons of toys and couldn't care less. That was exactly our problem: tons of toys within reach and he didn't play with any of them. Now he opens it, closes it, does it again. Twenty minutes by the clock, while I finish my coffee.

Saved our long road trip. Six hours on the road. Usually it's meltdown after meltdown. This time he played with the switches, then the night-light globe put him to sleep. We drove along in peace.

The first restaurant meal where we actually finished our plates. I was mostly dreading the looks from the other tables. We pulled it out with the appetizers and she stayed on it until the main course. Nobody turned around to look at us, and that is priceless.

Grandma's gift, total hit. I was looking for a gift that's different from stuffed animals. The parents thanked me, and the little guy loves it. No regrets.

I wanted to give something other than a battery-operated toy. I was looking for a gift that doesn't make noise and doesn't end up at the bottom of the toy bin. My daughter thanked me: it fits in the diaper bag and goes everywhere with them.

Great, but plan on batteries. Great for early learning, he loves the light-up buttons. Only downside: it takes 3 AAA batteries, which aren't included, and I had to go back out and buy some. Good to know before you order.

He can't drop it. It used to all end up under the seat and I'd crane my neck at every red light. Now it has its handle and its strap: even when he drops it, it stays hooked to the car seat.

The bedtime night-light. The glowing globe fades softly and my daughter settles down before bed. We use it as much for play as for bedtime.

He didn't touch the other packages. A gift for his second birthday. He opened it, sat down on the floor with it, and didn't let go all afternoon. The other presents stayed wrapped.

He learns without realizing it. Flip the switch, turn the knob, turn the key… his little fingers are working and he just thinks he's playing. Exactly what I wanted.

He gets carsick, so a screen was out of the question. The moment he watches anything moving in the car, he throws up. We had no solution for road trips. Now his eyes are on his hands, and we did two hours without one emergency stop.

Finally something other than the tablet. I felt guilty handing him a screen at restaurants. Now I pull out the board, the lights hold his attention, and I finish my meal in peace.

Eight hours on the road, and not a single movie. A very long drive with a 3-year-old. I was looking for a way to keep her busy without putting on a cartoon. She stayed with it for the first two hours, and went back to it after every break.

Very good, one switch is a bit stiff. Great overall, sturdy, he plays with it every day. One of the switches is a little hard for his small hands at 1 year old, he'll get there. Happy anyway.

Out at takeoff, packed away at landing. Three hours on a plane. No meltdown, no screen, and I didn't have to negotiate with her even once. The flight attendant asked us where we found it.

We got the Duo Set to stop the fighting in the back seat. With just one, it was war in the back seat. One each, each their own color, and suddenly all you hear is zippers.

Bought for his 2nd birthday, still using it. At first it was the Velcro and the buttons. Now it's the laces and the clock. The other toys from his 2nd birthday have been in the attic for ages. This one hasn't.

Just like the photos. I was afraid it would feel cheap. Nope: the wood is clean, the LEDs are bright, the little key and the globe do their job. Exactly as described.

She buttons her coat all by herself. It sounds silly, but it's exactly what I was hoping for: she got the motion on the board, and one morning she buttoned her coat without me. She was prouder than I was.

She asks for it first thing in the morning. It used to be "tablet." Now it's "light!" the second she wakes up. For us, that's a win.

Great interactive toy. Very happy, I recommend it to everyone. Lots of buttons, switches and knobs to satisfy a child's curiosity. The clicks and the feel of it add to the fun of turning the lights on and off.

Our favorite car toy. This keeps my toddler incredibly busy, we use it in the car or at restaurants. It runs on batteries, and they last way longer than I thought. Our favorite car toy.

Sturdy, it'll last for years. Great toy for kids who seek sensory input: my son loves pressing the buttons to see the lights come on. Lots of buttons, keys, switches. A really good product, sturdy and thick, it will last for years.

The perfect size for little hands. The perfect size for little hands. There's a switch, buttons, a plug, a key to turn and a knob to turn the lights on and off. A great way to learn colors and the difference between on and off.
