Our story

It started with a tablet handed over at the dinner table

At first there was no brand. Just a family dinner, a two-year-old who couldn't sit still, and a tablet propped up in front of him because he really had to finish his plate. Calm came back in thirty seconds. The guilt arrived right after.

This isn't a story about bad parents. It's a story about bad options.

The problem isn't the screen, it's that there's nothing else

We looked at what was in the toy box. Objects that do one thing. You press, it sings. You pull, it rolls. The child figures out the mechanism in two minutes, and turns away. That's why a box full of toys never buys more than ten minutes of calm.

A screen, on the other hand, never runs out. That's exactly what makes it so convenient — and so hard to replace.

What a toy that really holds their attention does

It doesn't do one thing. It does twenty. It doesn't give the answer: it lets the child try, get it wrong, try again. And above all, it offers real motions — opening a latch, buckling a belt, turning a key — not toy motions.

That's what Maria Montessori understood more than a century ago: a child doesn't want to be distracted, they want to do what adults do. Give them the same mechanisms in their size and they'll come back to them every day.

What we believe in

  • It's still in use three years from now. Velcro at one, laces at four. The same book, but never the same game. What's written here, you can see on the product.
  • No batteries and no screen, with one exception. Calm doesn't come from a toy that talks: none of our toys play music or voices. The light-up sensory board is our only product that uses batteries, and they're included.
  • Toys that travel. Car, plane, restaurant, waiting room: that's where you need them most, and that's where the toy box doesn't follow.
  • No therapeutic claims. A toy doesn't treat anything and doesn't replace a health professional. It keeps them busy, it teaches motions, it gets you through a car ride. That's already a lot.

Miloubo today

Miloubo is a brand of Montessori-inspired learning toys, in felt and wood, designed for kids from 6 months to 5 years — and above all for the moments when their parents are out of solutions: the car ride, the restaurant meal, the waiting room, the end of the day.

Customer support and after-sales service are handled directly by our team, in English. Our felt busy books are made in a specialized workshop and tested to the European EN 71 standards.
